Electric Company Pulled From State’s Web Site

I sent them an email to terminate the contract few days ago and told them that I will never do business with them again. I am glad the Texas PUC is looking into it, but I am still cautiously optimistic since politicians are known to wine and dine with the industries that they regular.  I hope the consumers will not be at the losing end of this ordeal.
According to one Dallasnews.com article, National Power angered one particularly high-profile customer.  “Give me a break, this is not a material change,” said Steve Wolens, a former Texas legislator who wrote the electricity deregulation laws, which allowed retail electricity sellers to set their own rates.

    Hi,
The question remains, what power company are you going to switch to? I’ve stayed with Reliant, mostly because of inertia. Now though with rates really getting high I need to rethink this.

I usually go to http://www.powertochoose.org/ and compare different power companies with their rates. You have to be careful because the lowest rates are not always the best choices. You have to think about whether it is fixed rate or month to month rate, is there a monthly charge, what are the overall terms, do you have to do auto payment or mail payment, and do you get paper statment or electronic statement? There are many things to think about but it’s worth it. I think as of now the Riverway has the cheapest fixed rate. I left Reliant 4 years ago and have never went back. It has been a headache to deal with National Power Company but you know what I have been saving $50 to $60 per month before this happened. It is worth it to shop around!!!! Good Luck.
